What this notice covers
This notice covers the public marketing website and direct early-access enquiries. It does not describe customer-platform processing carried out when a business uses Becket to manage its staff, customers, bookings, jobs or quotes. The responsibilities and terms for that processing will be documented separately before a customer starts using the service.
Information we receive
We may receive:
- your name, email address, business details and anything you choose to include in an enquiry or later correspondence;
- technical request and security information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as an IP address, browser details, requested page and request time.
The marketing website does not have an enquiry form. Its email links open your own email service, so you decide what to send. You do not have to contact us, but we need a reply address and enough information to answer an enquiry.
How and why we use information
- We use enquiry details to answer you and discuss early access. If you contact us in your own capacity, the lawful basis is taking steps you request before a contract. If you contact us for an organisation, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering the enquiry and assessing whether Becket is a suitable fit.
- We use correspondence and limited technical information to manage genuine enquiries, operate the website, prevent misuse and protect our systems. The lawful basis is our legitimate interests in running and securing the business.
- We may keep or disclose information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not use enquiry information for solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who receives information
We use a small number of service providers:
- Vercel hosts and protects the website and may process technical request information;
- Fastmail provides the mailbox used for enquiries.
We may also share information with professional advisers or a public authority when reasonably necessary or required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
International transfers
Vercel and Fastmail may process information outside the UK. If a restricted international transfer occurs, we use an applicable adequacy regulation or contractual safeguard. You can contact us for more information about the safeguard used.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiry correspondence for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact. We may keep it for longer if it becomes part of a customer relationship or if a legal, accounting or dispute-related reason requires us to do so. Technical hosting records are kept according to the hosting service's operational retention settings.
Cookies and analytics
We do not currently add analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies to the marketing website. The hosting service may use strictly necessary technical measures to deliver and protect the site. If this changes, we will update this notice and ask for consent where required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction, erasure, restriction or portability. You can contact us to exercise a right. We may need to confirm your identity first.
You also have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Tell us what you object to and why, and we will consider your request.
If you are concerned about how we use your information, please contact us first so we can try to help. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
