The key points
- An eligible standard subscription starts with a 14-day free trial. Payment details are required. Your first payment is taken automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand.
- Your subscription renews monthly or annually, as chosen at checkout. Annual billing is one payment for the year.
- You can cancel renewal at any time. Your access continues until the end of the trial or paid period, with no cancellation fee.
- A free pilot does not convert automatically. Continuing as a paying customer requires a separate signed paid order.
- Your business retains its rights in its data. Ending a subscription does not itself delete your records.
Please read the full terms below, particularly the sections on charges, cancellation, data and our responsibility to you.
1. Who your agreement is with
Becket is provided by Thoughtcube Limited (we, us or Thoughtcube), registered in England and Wales under company number 06994569.
Registered office: Horizon House, 2 Whiting Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, S8 9QRYou are the business named in the subscription or signed order. The person accepting must have authority to bind that business. Sole traders can subscribe for their business. These terms are not intended for purchases made mainly for personal use, but do not remove any rights that apply by law.
Your agreement includes this version of the terms, the plan, price and billing period you accept, and any service or data-processing schedule expressly agreed with you. We will make those documents available before you agree. A signed order takes priority over these terms where it expressly changes them; the data-processing schedule takes priority on personal data processing.
For a standard subscription, the agreement starts when you accept the offer and successfully complete checkout. Creating an account, receiving an invitation or abandoning checkout does not start a paid subscription or a trial. We will confirm the subscription details and terms version in writing.
2. What your subscription includes
Becket helps your business manage bookings, availability and customer records. Your selected plan and agreed configuration determine the available features and staff limits. Jobs and quotes are available for business types that use them.
You may use Becket for your own business through authorised users while your subscription is active. We will provide the agreed service with reasonable skill and care. Future features, bespoke work, website services and other optional services are included only if we expressly agree them in writing.
Your subscription pays for Becket. It does not collect payment from your customers for their bookings. Your business remains responsible for its services, customer contracts, prices, fulfilment, cancellations and refunds to its customers.
3. Your 14-day free trial
An eligible new standard subscription has one 14-day free trial, starting when checkout successfully creates the subscription. The trial end date, first payment date, price and billing frequency are shown before you confirm.
You must provide payment details and agree to automatic renewal. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, we will attempt to take the agreed monthly or annual payment and begin your first paid period. You do not need to place another order.
We will send a reminder before the first payment. You can cancel during the trial without a subscription charge and keep access until its end. A new account, returning subscription or plan change does not automatically qualify for another trial. Any different trial offer must be confirmed in writing.
4. Prices, payments and renewal
Your price and currency are those shown in the offer you accept. Monthly subscriptions are charged in advance each month. Annual subscriptions are charged in advance once each year, not in monthly instalments. Each renews for the same billing period unless cancelled or changed by agreement.
Thoughtcube Limited is not currently registered for VAT, so we do not charge VAT. The displayed subscription price is the amount you pay.
If our VAT status changes, we will explain how this affects your subscription before charging you. Any increase in the total price will follow the notice and renewal rules in section 8.
Stripe handles payment details, recurring payments, invoices and the billing portal. Becket does not receive or store your full card number or card security code. Keep your billing details, authorised payment method and contact email current.
The owner can view billing information and invoices through Plan & billing in Becket. Contact us promptly if a payment appears incorrect so we can investigate and correct any error.
5. Cancelling your subscription
Open Plan & billing, choose Manage subscription and cancel in the billing portal. You can do this at any time before the next payment is due. We will confirm the cancellation and the date your access ends.
If you cannot access the portal, email hello@usebecket.com from an authorised business contact. We may verify your authority. A clear cancellation request received before renewal will be honoured for that renewal even if we process it afterwards.
Cancellation stops future renewal. Access continues until the trial or current paid period ends. There is no cancellation fee, but cancelling does not normally create a refund for the unused part of a period that remains available to you.
This does not affect refunds or other remedies owed because of our breach, a billing error or applicable law. Where these terms provide an early end because of our change or failure, we will refund prepaid fees for the period after that end date.
6. Pilot and separately agreed accounts
A signed pilot agreement governs your free pilot. Our standard assisted pilot lasts 90 days, followed by a 14-day decision period for reviewing existing records and arranging an exit. That decision period is not an extension for taking new bookings. The dates are agreed and recorded separately.
A pilot never converts automatically and does not authorise us to charge you. Paid continuation requires a separate signed paid order and your explicit payment authorisation. It does not automatically include another free trial.
Without an agreed continuation, operational access ends in accordance with the pilot agreement. These terms do not retrospectively replace a pilot, legacy or other separately signed agreement.
7. If a payment fails
We will notify the owner if payment fails or needs further authentication. You have seven days from the first failed payment for that unpaid period to resolve it. Payment retries do not restart those seven days.
If it remains unpaid after that period, we may restrict operational access, including taking new bookings. The owner will retain a route to billing and data-return assistance. Successful payment allows us to restore access unless a separate security or account suspension still applies.
Removing a payment method or leaving a payment unpaid does not cancel renewal. Use the cancellation process to stop future periods. Contact us if you dispute an invoice; we will investigate in good faith before taking further collection action on the disputed amount.
8. Plan, price and service changes
Contact us to change your plan or billing frequency. We will agree the price, effective date, any adjustment and the effect on your staff limits before making the change. Changing a setting or discussing a different plan does not authorise an additional payment.
We will give at least 30 days' written notice of a price increase. It will take effect only at a renewal after that notice period, so your current paid period keeps its agreed price. You can cancel before the new price applies.
We may improve Becket or make changes for security, legal or operational reasons. We will give reasonable advance notice of a material reduction to your agreed service. If that change materially disadvantages you, you can end the subscription before it takes effect and receive a refund for any unused prepaid period. Urgent security or legal changes may need to happen sooner; we will explain them as soon as reasonably possible and preserve your applicable rights.
9. Looking after your account
Keep your business details, services, working hours, prices and booking rules accurate. Check important bookings and communications, assign appropriate permissions and remove access when a staff member's authority changes.
Each user must use their own account, protect their password and authentication access, and report suspected unauthorised access promptly. Do not misuse the service, introduce malware, access another business's information, resell access without agreement or test security without authorisation.
Only add information you have a lawful reason to use. Do not put payment-card details, passwords, authentication codes, identity documents or health and other special-category data in booking notes or customer records. Any specialist use requires a separate agreement before that data is entered.
10. Support and availability
Contact hello@usebecket.com for account or service help. Support is provided during normal UK business hours, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in England and Wales. Any different support arrangement must be agreed in writing.
We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability, a particular response time, 24-hour support or an uptime service level unless expressly agreed. We will give reasonable notice of planned maintenance where practical and take reasonable steps to address service faults.
Keep a suitable way to manage important appointments during an outage. This responsibility does not remove our duty to provide the service with reasonable skill and care. Do not email customer records, credentials or sensitive information; contact us first to arrange an appropriate support route.
11. Your data and confidentiality
Your business retains its rights in its data. You permit us to use it only as needed to provide, secure and support the agreed service and as permitted by the data-processing agreement. We retain ownership of Becket and its software.
Where we process your customers' or staff's personal data on your behalf, you are the controller and Thoughtcube is the processor. We will provide and agree the applicable data-processing schedule before you add that data. It sets out processing instructions, security, subprocessors, transfers, assistance and return or deletion. These subscription terms are not a substitute for that schedule.
We separately act as controller for business-account administration, authentication, security, billing and legal records. We will provide the relevant privacy information during onboarding. The website privacy notice covers website visits and enquiries.
Both parties will protect the other's confidential information and use it only for this agreement. Disclosure is permitted to people and providers who need it and are bound by suitable confidentiality duties, or where required by law. These duties continue after the subscription ends.
12. Suspension, ending and data return
We may suspend affected access where reasonably necessary to address a serious security risk, unlawful use or material breach. We will explain the reason where lawful and safe, limit the suspension to what is necessary and allow a reasonable opportunity to put a remediable breach right.
Either party may end the agreement for a material breach that is not remedied within 14 days of written notice, or sooner where the breach cannot be remedied or continuing would be unlawful. If you end because of our material breach, we will refund prepaid fees for the remaining unused period, without limiting other remedies available to you.
If we discontinue your service for reasons other than your breach, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid fees for the period after the service ends.
Cancellation or expiry does not itself delete business data. Contact us within 30 days after the service ends to arrange secure return or deletion under your data-processing schedule. Our team arranges data return with you. This exit process does not extend operational access.
We will confirm the agreed exit process, securely return or delete data as instructed, and handle remaining copies under the data-processing schedule and applicable law. We will not retain operational personal data indefinitely because you do not renew or respond. Records we must lawfully keep for our own accounting, security or legal purposes are handled separately, with access and retention limited to that purpose.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in this agreement removes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. It does not restrict regulatory powers or an individual's data-protection rights.
Subject to those exceptions, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the agreement is limited to the greater of £1,000 and the subscription fees paid or payable for the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the first claim. This is one aggregate cap for claims under the agreement. The £1,000 minimum also applies during a free trial.
We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the agreement was made. Any limit applies only to the extent it is lawful and reasonable. The cap does not reduce refunds expressly due under these terms.
14. Notices, changes to terms and disputes
Send account and contractual notices to hello@usebecket.com, or to a different formal address expressly agreed in your order. We will send notices to your nominated billing or owner email. Keep that address current and tell us if an authorised contact changes.
We will give at least 30 days' written notice of a material change to these terms and identify the new version and when it applies. Changes do not rewrite an already agreed paid period. If a material change adversely affects you, you may cancel before it takes effect. Any earlier change required by law will apply only as necessary, without removing rights that the law protects.
Contact us first about a complaint so we can try to resolve it. The law of England and Wales governs the agreement, and its courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here prevents either party from using a legal remedy available to it.
If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. Neither party may transfer the agreement without the other's consent, not to be unreasonably withheld. Anyone who is not a party has no right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999; this does not affect rights available independently of that Act.
